You are viewing an incisor ventral curvature.  The 100/200 incisors are overpowering and blocking the mandible from natural movement.

This is a quarter horse that had lost several hundred pounds when we were called in to look at him.  As you can see from the picture on the left, the incisors were in really bad shape with very little quality lateral movement.  His 103 incisor and his 402 incisor were binding his lateral movement.  He also had a incisor slant.  We reduced the overlong teeth and reduced the slant.  As you can see, there is a slight lower slant still there but we had to stop reduction at that time because of tooth health concerns.  This horse has gained most of his weight back and is doing great!

What you see here is  a 206 hook.  This horse also had lower 11 hooks.  Because of his issues, he had very little A-P movement.  The mandibale does not move in a proper motion because of this.  All hooks were removed and a mild bit-seat added.

This horse was floated on an annual basis.  We equilibrated this horse in March 08.  The owner said that this horse was having collection issues.  As you can see, the these issues would limit A-P movement.  The top picture is after and the bottom picture is before.

You are viewing the 200 arcade that has complex wave.  This will limit A-P (front to back) movement.

This is a great example of a horse where a lack of proper incisor work may have contributed to a fractured 402 incisor (bottom left).
